Human Rights And Peace Day

United Nations

"Human Rights in Action" is a project sponsored by the UN CyberSchoolBus aiming to encourage school children to engage in the exploration of Human Rights both in mind and deed.  The goal is to promote awareness and critical thinking about human rights and to have students worldwide  engage in an exchange of ideas about human rights amongst themselves and in both the local and global community.

As part of the project, the UN will be creating an Atlas of Action recording human rights initiatives developed by students worldwide.  If you have done a human rights project or want to do one, you are invited to submit your project for inclusion on the Atlas.  The Atlas will enable students to learn about human rights issues and action plans from their counterparts around the world.  Student projects will serve as a testimonial to global human rights action.  The Atlas will also be published and mailed to all participants.

To submit your project, fill out a simple
form.

To submit your project via e-mail, send a message to
globalteach_in@un.org
requesting the "Human Rights Form."
In addition to the Atlas, the UN CyberSchoolBus is sponsoring an interactive discussion about Human Rights within the context of education.  The purpose of this discussion group is to examine the teaching of and learning about human rights within schools and the classroom.  This discussion is open to all school students and teachers, as well as individuals from related organisations.  If you have questions, ideas or opinions about the teaching of human rights, the subject of children's rights, the right to an education, the right to a safe learning environment and all other universal human rights, join the discussion list and share them with others around the world.

To subscribe the discussion, please send an e-mail message to
LISTSERV@NETPALS.LSOFT.COM.  In the text of the message, please write SUBSCRIBE HRACTION Firstname Lastname (i.e. your first and last name).  You will receive a message asking you to confirm your subscription within 48 hours.  You will then receive notice of confirmation as well as a welcome message which includes user information.  Once the subscription has been confirmed, you may contribute to the discussion group by sending mail to HRACTION@NETPALS.LSOFT.COM.  If you experience any difficulties, please send a message to globalteach_in@un.org.
