On 20 May 1997, The British Library launched OPAC97 - which offers free access to the catalogues of the British Library's unique collections. The catalogue contains over 8.5 million bibliographic records for material held for both Reading Room and document supply purposes. Brian Kefford of The British Library gave a tour of the new service to our Editor, who was most impressed. Our Editor has no doubt that this service will prove immensely useful and it is destined to become "a mega star". OPAC 97 can be accessed with any Web browser (such as Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer).
